Public Relations Project

PR Comic Book Themed Project

For a project in my Public Relations class, we formed teams to implement a public relations campaign plan for an organization. We wrote up an extensive situation analysis, identifying the public relations challenges for the organization, and included the objectives of our PR program on what we would attempt to do.

In the next secition, we were required to write up a communication plan, discussing ways on how we would create a positive public opinion for our public relations campaign. We determined ways we used third-party endorsement, cause-related marketing, image advertising in our PR campaign.

The fun part came when we developed a press kit that included a news release, fact sheet, pitch letter, a PSA (public service announcement) and used some social/electronic media in our PR campaign. The organization we chose was a local comic book convention here in town, so for our campaign, we came up with a comic book theme to fit the organization.

We also included 1 page comic strip, advertising the comic show, which featured a female superhero. The comic strip was written and illustrated by me, using my drawing and creative writing skills. The character drawing style was inspired by the Erin Esurance commercials for American based insurance company, Esurance. The drawings were sketched, scanned and then drawn and colored in Adobe Illustrator.

The project became a hit among my classmates and teachers, and continues to be, as it’s being still shown to future classes. I get people giving me so much positive feedback about the drawings. We had such a fun time making this project, that after the project, I began drawing more of this character as a side project. I will post up the new drawings of my side project really soon, so stay tuned!
